Furnishing tips for decorating a small apartment

Home spaces are getting much smaller with more singles/ couples moving to the city and living in smaller shared city apartment. Most small apartments can feel cramped and closed. To make the most of your limited space, follow the tips below:

  1. When purchasing living room and bedroom furniture opt for furniture with curves. Since most apartment spaces are square, furniture with curves will bring a sense of fun and liven up a space. For linen and rugs follow the same concept, of circles and swirls.
  2. Purchase smaller sized furnishing, which will make the space look larger since the furnishings are smaller.
  3. Lucite tables and chairs or tables with glass tops will provide a sense of space.
  4. Pop out beds are back on trend. The newer styles look great down or up and are space savers.
  5. Use lighting to create warmth and space. Make sure you use lights with dimmers, so that you can adjust your lighting as per the time of day. Bedside lamps are a great way to add light to a room without the hassle of wall lighting fixtures.
  6. Since space is limited ensure you have just what is needed. If you don’t entertain much do you really need a 6 seater dining table. Probably not, instead opt for a small 2 or 4 seater.
  7. Make sure all areas have sufficient storage space. Small spaces can look messy quite fast. If everything unused is put in its place, a small apartment can look a lot more spacious.
